Not many people think of the Bible as a book. However, it is just as much a book as The Illiad or The Lord of the Rings. It has an overall plot and storyline that is epic and by far the greatest redemption story of all time. It has impacted so many people over the years and is unique due to the fact that it is more than just a story-it is truth.
The Bible is full of amazing historical events that have been severely underplayed in today’s world. Scholars spend a lifetime trying to uncover its historical and archeological archives and have discovered much evidence and support of ancient civilizations that have otherwise been overlooked. Through all of its amazing implications and history, the Bible has profoundly impacted my life and I will never be the same.
Thinking back, I can’t recall any period of time where God wasn’t priority in my family. Growing up in a Christ-filled home, I gained my knowledge about the Bible from going to church and reading the Bible on my own. However, my family taught me from a young age that knowledge is not the main reason to study the Bible. There is a much deeper impact that the Bible can have on you if you let it.
Through studying the Bible, I learned that God is alive today. He uses his Word to speak to people and show them his character. Without the Bible, the creation of the world would have no real explanation and the phenomena of nature would be a mystery. Through the ultimate Truth of the Bible, we, as humans, can begin to understand our role on Earth and our deepest questions can be answered.
I love the Bible so much because it is so powerful. I read the Bible daily because I desire to understand its immense depths and hidden treasures. I truly believe that God uses the Bible to speak to people and by studying his Word, I can discover more and more of His perfect character and how much He loves me. It’s quite difficult to put into words the impact the Bible has on me and so many other people. In order to fully grasp the changing power of the Bible, you have to read it for yourself. There’s no need to be a scholar or go through some special training to be able to understand it. You just have to be open to the possibility that it could change you. God shows up in His Word. If you look for Him, you will find Him.
